I am grateful for a new year, with a fresh start! The year 2011 brought a lot of experiences in my life that has made me change the way I look at life, and I have truly grown from my challenges and spiritual experiences that I have had. I'm grateful for all of my trials and happy moments! I want to be able to think of ways to be happy EVERY SINGLE DAY! Life is too short to spend it being sad or down. I'm no blogger, so I hope that my desire to do this everyday will continue. I know that if we stay positive, and look up in life, anything negative will become a positive experience! With that said..........Let's Smile!

SMILE #60 Leap Day/Year

LEAP DAY!......Well, it only happens every 4 years, so I gotta blog about it!  And I have to smile and/or laugh about it too, because the year I decide to make a blog post everyday for an entire year, and have the number 365 in the title, it just happens to be a leap year, so there is 366 days this year!!!  Too funny!  Okay, here is some facts I dug up about this cool day.

definition (from the awesome wikipedia)-February 29, known as a leap day in the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Years that are evenly divisible by 100 do not contain a leap day, with the exception of years that are evenly divisible by 400, which do contain a leap day; thus 1900 did not contain a leap day while 2000 did. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of that year.

  • People born on leap year’s day are called leaplings. And the chances of having a leap year birthday are 1 in 1,461
  • The longest time between two leap years is eight years. The last time this happened was between 1896 and 1904 and it won't happen again until 2096 to 2104.
  • According to an old Irish legend, or possibly history, St Bridget struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every 4 years. *Now I know why they made that movie "Leap year".  I remember it coming out, but never watched it!....You learn something everyday!

Hope everyone has a great Leap Day!  Don't forget to SMILE!!!
