I am grateful for a new year, with a fresh start! The year 2011 brought a lot of experiences in my life that has made me change the way I look at life, and I have truly grown from my challenges and spiritual experiences that I have had. I'm grateful for all of my trials and happy moments! I want to be able to think of ways to be happy EVERY SINGLE DAY! Life is too short to spend it being sad or down. I'm no blogger, so I hope that my desire to do this everyday will continue. I know that if we stay positive, and look up in life, anything negative will become a positive experience! With that said..........Let's Smile!

SMILE #284 Honey Bee's

This last weekend, was the world wide General Conference for my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It's always a nice time to listen from our church leaders, and gain a stronger testimony of what this gospel is all about!    But there was a talk given by Elder M. Russell Ballard,  It was titled "Be Anxiously Engaged"and I learned some wonderful things from his talk.  I learned, that I can't do everything by myself, and that there are others all around to get the job done.  Here is a part from Elder Ballard's talk, where he discussed the life of a bee....

Honeybees are driven to pollinate, gather nectar, and condense the nectar into honey. It is their magnificent obsession imprinted into their genetic makeup by our Creator. It is estimated that to produce just this one pound (0.45 kg) of honey, the average hive of 20,000 to 60,000 bees must collectively visit millions of flowers and travel the equivalent of two times around the world. Over its short lifetime of just a few weeks to four months, a single honeybee’s contribution of honey to its hive is a mere one-twelfth of one teaspoon.

I was astounded!  1/12 of a teaspoon, is all that bee contributes, but with so many other's helping, the job is accomplished, and accomplished very well!  It makes me smile to see one of God's tiniest creations can do so much for our world!  But I also smile because of the analogy that Elder Ballard gave.  We have to all depend on each other to make this world, and this gospel grow and flourish!  We CANNOT do this on our own.  Here is another quote from his talk....

All of this symbolism attests to one fact: great things are brought about and burdens are lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause” (D&C 58:27). Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

May we all be more like the honey bee's, and share the work in this great cause!  If you don't know where to start.........just share your smile with someone!  It will change a life!
