I am grateful for a new year, with a fresh start! The year 2011 brought a lot of experiences in my life that has made me change the way I look at life, and I have truly grown from my challenges and spiritual experiences that I have had. I'm grateful for all of my trials and happy moments! I want to be able to think of ways to be happy EVERY SINGLE DAY! Life is too short to spend it being sad or down. I'm no blogger, so I hope that my desire to do this everyday will continue. I know that if we stay positive, and look up in life, anything negative will become a positive experience! With that said..........Let's Smile!

SMILE #236 Visiting the Elderly
Last night for a Joint Young Men's and Young Women's Church Activity, we had a service scavenger hunt. They groups had a list of service items that they needed to get checked off! Our group stopped at one and only ONE house! The rules stated that you were not to stay in one place for more than 10 minutes, but the first house we went to was of an elderly couple, the wife was out running errands, but the husband had some wonderful stories to share. He is 85, and was born and raised in the very house we sat in! He know's EVERYTHING about Layton city.............His last name is Layton! It was really amazing to sit and listen to him for almost an hour. He himself has been through many struggles and health issues, but he was so positive about life, and so happy! I found myself just smiling at everything he had to say! I also found the youth that I was with, smiling as well, I think they really enjoyed the visit, and appreciated his sense of humor and his attitude about life. It was a great night, and I forget sometimes how wonderful it is to just sit and listen to the stories of old. There is a lot we can learn!
