When I married into the Hunsaker family, I didn't quite know all the yummy treats my mother in-law had up her sleeve! She's got so many, it's hard to say that I have a single favorite, but ONE of my many favorites that she makes is Caramel Brownies! I just made some, and they are divine! Chocolate + Caramel = SMILING!
Make yourself smile today, and make some of your own! Here is the recipe:
Carmel Brownies
1 Betty Crocker German Chocolate Cake Mix
½ C. Melted Butter
2/3 C. Evaporated milk (use 1/3 cup at a time)
14 oz. bag Kraft Caramels (about 50 squares)
1 C. semi sweet chocolate chips
Chopped walnuts (optional)
Melt caramels slowly in a sauce pan with 1/3 c. evaporated
milk. Meanwhile, mix (with a fork) dry
cake mix, margarine and 1/3 c. evaporated milk.
Press ½ of cake mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for
8 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Pour melted caramel on top. Add walnuts (if desired) on part or all. Crumble remaining cake mixture on top. Bake 18 minutes. Cool. (It's easiest to cut and serve after it has sat overnight.)
ENJOY!!!
