I am grateful for a new year, with a fresh start! The year 2011 brought a lot of experiences in my life that has made me change the way I look at life, and I have truly grown from my challenges and spiritual experiences that I have had. I'm grateful for all of my trials and happy moments! I want to be able to think of ways to be happy EVERY SINGLE DAY! Life is too short to spend it being sad or down. I'm no blogger, so I hope that my desire to do this everyday will continue. I know that if we stay positive, and look up in life, anything negative will become a positive experience! With that said..........Let's Smile!

SMILE #28 Eloquent Speakers

I just got back from an absolutely amazing conference held for just the women in my surrounding area called a stake.  It was put on by the Stake Relief Society presidency and other board members.  I'm grateful for all of them, but specifically for my mother, who is the Stake Relief Society President!  She has put countless hours into this event, and it was exactly what the women in this area needed.  I know that many hearts were touched and lives were changed because of this event.  But what makes me smile, is being able to listen to wonderful eloquent speakers that shared their words with over 550 women today!  I am not one to be able to get up and speak to people very well.  I stumble over my words, and get so flustered.  But all who spoke today did a wonderful job, and made me wish, I had that talent.

The conference was divided into an opening session, where a few spoke including my mom, and also the keynote speaker was Sister Susan Bednar, wife of Elder David R. Bednar of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles for our LDS church. She did a wonderful job, and really shared with us her sweet personality, she really has a way of speaking to the women of the church.  Then the remaining of the conference was split up into other rooms of the church building, where the presenters traded rooms and came and spoke to us.  All of them did amazing!  The last presenter that spoke was Sister Staples from the General Relief Society Board.  She shared many things with us, but the one thing that stuck with me, and I had to write it down, was a quote from Sister Julie B. Beck (the General Relief Society President)  I have a great respect for her, so since she said this, I felt it to be true and important to share with others.  She listed 4 things that we should do at the start of EVERYDAY!!!

  1. Roll out of bed, and say your prayers!
  2. Read your scriptures, even if it's just for a few minutes!
  3. Make your bed!  That is telling the Lord that you are not going to give up on the day.
  4. Get dressed and put on some make-up!   Dress for success!
Hearing those, just made me smile!  I feel strongly on all 4 points! I need each and everyone of them to make my day a good one. The last one especially!  I find it very important to be dressed everyday, with make-up and hair done, to be ready for my day! I feel like I accomplish so much more when I do that.

Do something good today, listen to or read a talk/speech, let someone else's words lift up your day, like it has mine.  And don't forget to SMILE!!!
