I am grateful for a new year, with a fresh start! The year 2011 brought a lot of experiences in my life that has made me change the way I look at life, and I have truly grown from my challenges and spiritual experiences that I have had. I'm grateful for all of my trials and happy moments! I want to be able to think of ways to be happy EVERY SINGLE DAY! Life is too short to spend it being sad or down. I'm no blogger, so I hope that my desire to do this everyday will continue. I know that if we stay positive, and look up in life, anything negative will become a positive experience! With that said..........Let's Smile!

SMILE #12 Self Control

Do you smile when you make that right choice to choose the apple over that piece of cake? Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about smiling  and enjoying that cake!     But I smile when I go into a situation, like a party, knowing that there will be yummies to eat, and telling myself, I'm not going to  eat the dessert, and I actually keep to that goal!  A few weeks ago, a great fitness instructor that teaches at my gym, told us in her class that she is going off sugary treats for 4 weeks, then proceeded to ask, who would be joining her!  Somehow, my hand went straight up!  It's been about 2 1/2 weeks now, and I can't say how 1st, -proud I am of myself, for sticking with it, and 2nd- how good I feel!  It's crazy how getting rid of one thing, can make us feel better.

I'm not saying I'm off it completely and forever, but it helped me realize, that I can do hard things, and live through it!  It also made me realize that I don't need to eat that cookie....X3, all the time.  You've heard the phrase "Moderation in Everything".  I completely believe it to be true!  Here is one of my favorite clips from good ole' you tube!  "The Marshmallow Test"  I would love to try it on my kids someday!

Having self control is a very important thing to learn.  It can be related to any aspect in your life!  Such as, not listening to that song with bad lyrics, or watching the movie, you know you shouldn't, or speaking back to your parents, (or to your children).

A thought for your mind......

In what area in your life, could you put more effort in having more self control?
Try it!  You may even SMILE!
